Raisani said, “Yes, but the New York thing is big for other characters as well,” and added, “There was a certain paramedic from New York from the show that Roxie might know.” He also said, “There’s a lot of New York in the ‘9-1-1’ backstories, even though we’ve never set a show there, so we definitely want to say that some of these people bumped into each other.”

Juani Feliz’s Roxie becomes part of that larger design because Raisani said she is also from New York.
