The Victoria line was suspended between Seven Sisters and Walthamstow Central on Wednesday after emergency services were called to Walthamstow Queen’s Road station at around 5.55am. Transport for London reported severe delays on the rest of the line.
Walthamstow Queen’s Road station
The call to Walthamstow Queen’s Road station came as emergency services dealt with a casualty on the track. That left the closed section of the Victoria line out of service while the rest of the route carried severe delays.
Passengers travelling through Seven Sisters and Walthamstow Central faced the sharpest impact, with the suspension cutting off the eastern end of the line. TfL also said the disruption was affecting service beyond that section, which meant the slowdown was not limited to the closed stretch.
Overground and other lines
The morning disruption did not stop at the Victoria line. The Overground’s Suffragette line was partly suspended earlier in the morning, then closed while emergency services dealt with a casualty on the tracks between Barking Riverside and South Tottenham.
Elsewhere, severe delays on the District line between Ealing Broadway and Turnham Green had eased while engineers dealt with a signalling problem. Severe delays were also reported on the Metropolitan line while engineers fixed a signal failure at Neasden.
The remaining question is the condition of the person involved in the casualty on the track. TfL had not given a return time for normal Victoria line service, so passengers were left to plan around delays rather than a fixed recovery point.
