The New Jersey Devils have added Jessica Campbell as Manager, Player Development, a move that completes the club's development staff and brings another experienced voice into the organization.
The Devils said Campbell will help oversee prospect development and serve as a resource for the Utica-based AHL franchise. The hire comes after two years in which Campbell worked as an assistant coach with the Seattle Kraken.
What Campbell brings to the Devils
Campbell's move to New Jersey is another step in a career that has continued to grow at the NHL level. Her recent work with the Seattle Kraken gives the Devils a coach with current league experience and a background that fits the demands of development-focused work.
That matters because player development is about more than just teaching skills. It also means helping prospects adjust to the pace, structure and expectations of professional hockey, while keeping communication strong between the NHL club and its AHL affiliate.
McCabe adds more development experience
The Devils also hired Bryan McCabe in a development staff role. McCabe was selected by the New York Islanders in the second round of the 1993 NHL Draft, 40th overall, and went on to play 14 NHL seasons from 1995-96 through 2010-11.
He finished his playing career with 528 points in 1,135 games and later moved into player development roles with the Florida Panthers organization beginning in 2012-13. Florida won Stanley Cup championships in 2024 and 2025, adding more recent context to McCabe's front-office background.
Why the hire matters now
With Campbell and McCabe in place, the Devils said their development staff is complete. That gives the organization a clearer structure for handling prospects and supporting the Utica system, two areas that can shape the long-term health of an NHL roster.
For Campbell, the move marks a new chapter after two seasons behind the Kraken bench. For the Devils, it adds another experienced staff member to a part of the organization that often has a direct impact on future roster depth.
