Photos obtained by the show Prince Sultan Air Base damage photos from Iranian strikes across US sites in the Middle East, including a destroyed Boeing E-3 Sentry at Prince Sultan Air Force Base in Saudi Arabia. The images also show damaged trailers, tents and buildings at other sites in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
One member of the military said: “This is major damage to our bases that hasn't been communicated to the American public.” The same member added: “We're standing there with our eyes closed getting punched in the face.”
Prince Sultan Air Force Base damage
One of the photos shows a Boeing E-3 Sentry ripped in half at Prince Sultan Air Force Base, with the tail section crumpled into a tangled mess of metal. Verify previously confirmed a similar photo, apparently of the same radar aircraft, in March.
The Boeing E-3 Awacs are used to detect and track potential targets at long ranges to provide an early warning of possible threats. At the time of the Iranian attack on the air base, 12 US personnel were wounded and two were seriously wounded.
Camp Beuhring and Camp Arifjan
A pair of undated images reportedly from Camp Beuhring, Kuwait, showed crumpled trailers and a large tent-like structure reduced to shreds as smoke billowed from the site. Another image showed a four-storey building damaged by an Iranian strike at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait.
Damage to Camp Arifjan was reported in March, including on satellite communications hardware. The photos were provided by active military personnel, and the White House and US Central Command were approached for comment.
Pentagon report on the damage
A Pentagon watchdog report said Iranian strikes damaged and destroyed hundreds of buildings and structures at US bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman and Jordan during the conflict. The report also put equipment losses at $3.7bn, while the US spent $33.4bn on the war up to 29 June.
In the months after the war began, dozens of US aircraft were destroyed or damaged, and the report lists five refuelling aircraft that were damaged or destroyed on the ground in Saudi Arabia by Iranian munitions. The has not independently verified the photos, leaving the destroyed Boeing E-3 Sentry image at Prince Sultan Air Force Base as the clearest visual in a wider damage record that the Pentagon says reached across the Middle East.
