Pierce Brosnan said the Mob Land Season 2 cast was “blindsided” by reports about Tom Hardy, and he made clear he would not treat the show as movable without him. The comments came after earlier reports questioned Hardy’s place in the Paramount+ crime drama.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday, Brosnan said, “I think we’re all blindsided by it, really.” He added that he reached out to Hardy and told him, “I love you, mate. I love you,” then framed Hardy as the person who “allows us to play these crazy characters.”
Helen Mirren’s Instagram response
Days after the reports broke in May, Helen Mirren posted a photo of Hardy on Instagram and wrote, “Love you now and always.” She later told The Hollywood Reporter that “False rumors just should be knocked on the head ASAP,” and said she posted because of her genuine love for him. That is not studio spin; it is the cast putting public weight behind one of their own.
The response matters because the earlier reports centered on alleged clashes during production of season two and said Hardy’s future on the series was in limbo. A source described complaints about behavior on set, including that Hardy “refused to come out of his trailer for hours at a time,” “kept the cast waiting,” and was engaged in “a power play.”

MobLand was created by Guy Ritchie and follows the conflict between the Harrigans and the Stevensons. Conrad leads the Harrigans, Maeve is his strategic wife, Richie Stevenson leads the Stevensons, and Hardy plays Harry Da Souza, the Harrigan family’s loyal fixer.
Brosnan’s and Mirren’s public defense leaves the cleanest read on the situation: the cast does not appear willing to let rumors define Hardy’s role, and they have already moved to blunt the narrative before it hardens around season two. Whether Hardy’s status on MobLand changed after the alleged season two clashes is still the open question the show is carrying forward.
