East Street and Tehama Street
The incident was reported at approximately 4:35 p.m. in the area of East Street and Tehama Street. A pickup truck towing a dump trailer was stopped when the pedestrian reportedly walked between the truck and trailer, and the vehicle then began moving.
He was reportedly struck by the trailer, pulled underneath it, and run over in the pelvic area. Emergency personnel initially received reports that the pedestrian was trapped underneath the dump trailer, and dispatchers advised the Redding Police Department that he had been freed and was breathing.

Medical personnel evaluated the 19-year-old at the scene and placed him in a cervical collar as a precaution. He reportedly suffered significant abrasions around his pelvic area and left leg but did not complain of pain during the initial assessment.
No obvious fractures or head injuries were reported during the preliminary evaluation. He was transported to Mercy Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.
Redding Police Department
Emergency personnel reported that the man was behaving somewhat erratically, and possible substance use was mentioned in initial communications. It was not immediately known whether impairment played any role, and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
For a pedestrian accident lawyer review, the unresolved issue is the movement and position of the pickup and trailer when the pedestrian went between them. Witness statements, roadway evidence, and the vehicles’ blind spots will matter most in reconstructing how he ended up underneath the trailer.
