Brock Bowers inactive for Week 2 vs. Chargers, Cody White update for Raiders

Brock Bowers was inactive for the Las Vegas Raiders' Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Chargers, missing a second consecutive game because of a knee injury. The absence was expected after Bowers was listed as doubtful, but it still leaves the Raiders without one of their top tight ends for another week.

What it means for the Raiders

With Bowers out, Michael Mayer is the player expected to handle most of the tight end workload. That shifts more responsibility to Mayer in a game where the Raiders already had to adjust their offense without one of their key options. For Week 2, the answer to the most important status question was simple: Bowers was not playing against the Chargers.

Second straight game missed

This was Bowers' second consecutive game on the inactive list, which makes his knee injury the main issue for Las Vegas to manage early in the season. The Raiders did not get him back for Week 2, so the tight end rotation again turns to Mayer while Bowers works toward a return.
