Dolly Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, is now at the center of a Tennessee court fight after her estate filed for a restraining order against him. The filing says the dispute grew out of alleged threats toward Danny Nozell and others, and it has already left some staff members afraid to come to work or resigning.
Seaver was Parton’s former head of security, and the estate says the break with him hardened into a safety issue after he had already handled a highly personal duty: on 25 August, he posted a video announcing Parton’s death, saying it was “something Dolly asked of me years ago.”
Danny Nozell and the estate filing
The estate run by Danny Nozell alleges Seaver made relentless threats and filed the restraining-order request after his security contract was terminated on 15 September. A leaked termination letter said the decision was made for the protection of the trust and beneficiaries as a whole, while also saying the termination did not end Seaver’s personal interest in the trust.
The filing describes the threats as deliberate and paints Seaver as a self-proclaimed heavily armed former security operative with a military-contractor background. It says some staff members now fear coming to work, and others have already resigned rather than stay in an environment they do not feel is safe.
Messages that escalated the dispute
One message attributed to Seaver to a lawyer for Parton reads, “I’m a killer.” Another message to Nozell says, “I’m literally an international arms dealer and mercenary. All I do is warfare. Everyone needs to be worried about what I might do.” The lawsuit also cites a separate message: “I’m going to spend the next times I have on earth ratfucking anyone that has ever betrayed my family.”
Seaver has pushed back on that picture. He told TMZ that he is a career soldier and military contractor, that he does conduct arms deals for foreign governments, and that “nothing in this lawsuit were threats and most of the comments I stand by.” He added that he was speaking privately with Nozell, whom he described as a friend, and called the exchanges “rage talk” while grieving.
Nashville chancery court review
The immediate next step is the chancery court in Nashville, which will consider whether to grant the restraining-order filing against Seaver. On the record now, the estate has moved the dispute from family fallout into court, and Seaver has responded by insisting the messages were not threats but rough private talk. That leaves the judge with a narrow but consequential question: whether the estate has shown enough risk to justify legal restraint before the feud worsens further.
