Nithya Raman opened a 39% to 28% lead over Karen Bass in the Los Angeles mayor's race in the Nithya Raman polling numbers la mayor released on Wednesday. The University of California Berkeley Institute of Government Studies/Los Angeles Times poll also found about one third of likely Los Angeles voters were still undecided.

Raman, a Los Angeles Councilmember and mayoral candidate, was shown at 39% support. Bass, the mayor and candidate for reelection, was at 28%, leaving an 11-point gap between the two.
Mark DiCamillio said, “It's extraordinarily unusual to see this many undecided voters at this point in the race.” Less than two weeks before mail-in ballots were sent out for the Nov. 3 election, that block of undecided voters remained large enough to leave the result open to change.
June primary numbers
The same race looked different in the June primary, when Bass and Raman finished first and second with 34% and 29% of the vote, while Spencer Pratt finished third with 26%. In the new poll, 63% of Pratt supporters had not chosen a candidate, while 22% favored Bass and 16% backed Raman.
Pratt posted, “I told everyone that if you don’t vote for me, Raman will beat Bass. That’s why she entered the race 10 minutes before the clerk's office closed. She knew I was gonna destroy Bass 1-on-1. Good luck LA.” He also wrote, “Raman is Karen's karma. Stabbed in the back by the commie she campaigned for, took pictures with her family...the moment Nithya saw an opening, she knifed Karen. Good lesson to all you democrats: NEVER trust the DSA. Socialists have no morals. They'll gut you, too.”
Los Angeles mayor's race
The poll gives Raman a clear lead, but the undecided share leaves Bass with a path if those voters break late and Pratt's supporters move unevenly. For voters, the immediate marker is simple: the race has shifted, the ballots are close to going out, and the final margins will hinge on who makes a choice before the Nov. 3 election.
