Humberside Police are investigating after a man's body was found near Pocklington Lane in Burnby on Wednesday afternoon. Pocklington Household Waste Recycling Site was closed after the discovery, and a scene guard was put in place near the lane.

The body was found at about 15:15 BST, and police said the man's death was being treated as unexplained. Police also said formal identification had not yet taken place, but the man's family have been informed.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council said Pocklington Household Waste Recycling Site was closed on Wednesday after the discovery. That left residents and users of the site facing a shutdown while the police scene guard remained in place near Pocklington Lane.

The said it had asked the force to confirm whether the body was discovered inside the waste recycling centre, or elsewhere near Pocklington Lane in Burnby, leaving the exact spot of the discovery as the one detail still to be pinned down.
