Southern Westchester County
A coastal flood warning is in effect from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Sunday for southern Westchester County. Flooding could affect roads, parking lots, lawns, and waterfront homes, and it likely will extend inland along tidal rivers and bays.
Hudson Valley and Mid
Rain is expected to begin late Friday in the Hudson Valley and continue Saturday and Sunday, with 1.5 to 3 inches expected in the lower Hudson Valley between Friday evening and Sunday. The National Weather Service expects 1 to 1.5 inches in the western and northern Hudson Valley, while gusty winds of 30 to 40 miles per hour will be common across the mid Hudson Valley.
The timing gives residents a narrow window to prepare before the strongest stretch arrives Friday night and lasts into the weekend. In the lower Hudson Valley, rain is forecast before 11 p.m. tonight, then likely after 5 a.m., with gusts as high as 43 miles per hour on Saturday and 41 miles per hour on Sunday.
The advisories do not line up perfectly with the same parts of the region: the wind advisory covers southeast New York, while the coastal flood warning focuses on southern Westchester County and the rain totals are heaviest in the lower Hudson Valley. Rain may linger into Monday, leaving the weekend storm period stretched across multiple rounds of wind, flooding, and steady rain.
