Leicestershire Police arrested a 38-year-old after four pedestrians were injured in a hit-and-run on Vaughan Way in Leicester city centre. The collision happened at 22:12 BST on Saturday at a crossing towards the junction with Highcross Street, and Vaughan Way has now reopened after inquiries.

Three men were taken to hospital with serious injuries. A fourth man got up and walked away and was not taken to hospital.
The crash involved a silver vehicle that failed to stop. Police later identified a vehicle believed to be involved and said the arrested man remains in custody.

The arrest is on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, drink driving and causing grievous bodily harm. Police said there were a number of people in the area at the time, and they asked anyone who witnessed the collision or the lead-up to it to get in touch.
They also asked drivers in the area with relevant dashcam footage to speak to them. For anyone who was near the crossing, that means the road is open again, but the account police are still building depends on what witnesses and footage show about the moments before the vehicle failed to stop.
