Garrett Wilson exited Sunday’s game between the New York Jets and Detroit Lions with an apparent injury late in the fourth quarter, cutting short a strong performance in a close finish.
Before leaving, Wilson had already done plenty of damage. He caught 10 of his team-leading 13 targets for 107 yards and one touchdown, giving the Jets a reliable option throughout the day.
What happened late in the game
Wilson was seen limping to the sideline as the Jets tried to score in the final minute while down a touchdown at Detroit 28. Tim Twentyman noted, “Jets WR Garrett Wilson is down,” as the situation unfolded.
The exit mattered because Wilson was the focal point of the passing game. Even in a losing situation, he was the player New York kept leaning on, and his production showed how central he was to the offense on Sunday.
At this point, the key question is whether Wilson’s injury will affect his availability going forward. For the Jets, any update on their top target will matter quickly after a game in which he carried the passing attack for much of the afternoon.
