Enter Shikari Rou sets 2027 hiatus after biggest tour plans

Enter Shikari Rou have set the end of 2027 as the point where they will go on indefinite hiatus, turning a slow build of reduced activity into a clear cutoff. The band says 2027 is the last planned year on the diary, even as it prepares a big run of shows before then.

Rou Reynolds said he had been “been going through a lot of adversity which has brought my capacity to zero,” linking the reduced pace to burnout, OCD and nervous system sensitisation. That makes the break feel less like a clean split than a long runway to a pause the band has been circling for months.

2027 diary closes

Enter Shikari said it does not think it is splitting up, but it also said it does not have a diary that extends beyond 2027 and will “fall dormant as a recording and performing entity.” That contradiction is the story: the group is drawing a line under its current run without writing an ending beyond it. For listeners, that means the next two years carry unusual weight because there is no stated plan after them.

The band tied that endpoint to 20 years since the release of Take To The Skies, while next year will also mark 10 years of The Spark and 15 years of A Flash Flood Of Colour. It said next year will be “a celebration of what the band means to them,” which frames the pause as a milestone-driven hold rather than a sudden retreat.

November and January plans

Enter Shikari said it has been working on some bits of new music and wants fans to hear them “sooner rather than later.” It also said it had just finished filming another thing, keeping a little more content in play before the hiatus arrives.

In November, the band will play its biggest-ever UK and European tour, and it said, “If that ends up being the last time some people see us, we want to make it special.” It has also booked some festival dates in mainland Europe and North America for 2027, and it plans to announce some US shows for January.

Fugazi and the pause

Enter Shikari said it may still reunite to rehearse for fun, borrowing the model of Fugazi, but without feeling the need to make anyone else listen to it. That leaves the future open in theory, yet closed in practice for touring and recording as the band has defined them now.

For anyone tracking the group’s next move, the practical answer is simple: the remaining run through 2027 is the last guaranteed stretch, and the November tour is the one to treat as the peak of it. After that, the only thing left on the table is whether Enter Shikari returns at all, and on what terms.
