Browns Schedule: Elgton Jenkins ruled out for Week 4 against Steelers

The Browns schedule took a hit ahead of Thursday Night Football, as the team ruled out three players for Week 4 against the Steelers, including C Elgton Jenkins. Jenkins did not practice during the week because of a concussion, and Luke Wypler is expected to start at center in his place.

The update matters because Cleveland is already managing multiple lineup absences and now has to adjust again on a short week. Todd Monken said on Sept. 29 that Wypler had done a good job working back after his injury last year and that he would be ready if Elgton Jenkins could not go.

More injury concerns on the Browns schedule

Teven Jenkins was also ruled out after being limited on Tuesday and Wednesday, extending a stretch in which he has missed multiple games because of a back injury. Tylan Wallace will miss Week 4 as well after sustaining a knee injury late in the fourth quarter during the Week 3 matchup against the Panthers.

For the Browns, the timing is the biggest issue. A Thursday night game leaves little recovery time, and the center spot is now changing because of the concussion. With Teven Jenkins unavailable and Wallace sidelined too, Cleveland enters the Steelers game with several important players out and more moving parts than it would prefer this early in the season.
