Donald Trump hires Beni Rae Harmony as Assistant Press Secretary

Donald Trump hired Beni Rae Harmony, a 24-year-old Real America's Voice correspondent, as an Assistant Press Secretary starting Monday. The White House said she is joining the White House communications team while it continues looking for a replacement for Karoline Leavitt.

White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly said Harmony has been a trusted voice for the MAGA movement as a White House correspondent. Kelly also said, "She will be an outstanding addition to President Trump’s communications team as an Assistant Press Secretary — we look forward to having her on board!"

Harmony recently began traveling regularly with the White House press pool. She traveled with the White House press pool on Trump’s trip to Ireland last month and his trip to Tennessee last weekend.

Karoline Leavitt

The hiring lands while the Trump administration is still searching for a replacement for Karoline Leavitt. Leavitt announced in August that she would be stepping down after giving birth to her second child, saying serving in the role was "the honor and adventure of a lifetime" and that she could not be the best mom her two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary.

Trump called Leavitt "one of the best White House Press Secretaries in the History of the Office" and said she would remain "one of my top outside advisors, and an influential voice within the Republican Party." The new hire leaves one practical question open for the White House: whether Harmony is filling Leavitt’s post or simply adding another role to the communications team. For now, the only fixed date is Monday, when Harmony is set to start.
