Si King has revealed he is seeing a “very special” new girlfriend after his split from Jane Dodd. The Hairy Bikers star said the relationship has been “wonderful” and that his sons Alex, James and Dylan, along with Dodd, are happy about it.
“It's been wonderful and continues to be wonderful,” he said. “And you know, I think the lads [his sons] are really happy, as is my ex-wife Jane, actually.” For a public figure whose private life has long sat alongside his work, that is the cleanest update in years.
1989 to 2016
King married Dodd in 1989, and they were together for nearly three decades before splitting in 2016. He said they “lost each other” when he put work first, adding: “Jane was focused on the family, and I was focused on work.” He also said: “The reality is the industry we work in is incredibly brutal.”
That timeline matters because the relationship change did not arrive out of nowhere. It follows a long marriage, three children and a separation that King has linked directly to the pressure of work, deadlines and the need to stay “on form.”
Dave Myers in 2024
In 2024, Dave Myers died aged 66 after a two-year battle with cancer, and King said the loss left him feeling lost. Earlier this month, he said he was still processing that grief and that he “doesn't know what else to do” with it, while also describing the work of continuing without Myers as “challenging.”
On Radio 4's Desert Island Discs, he said: “The first year, I didn't want to do anything at all.” He added that he felt guilt while shooting the show without Myers and called it “a very odd experience,” because he was having to remember and deliver pieces to camera without his longtime partner there.

King has not named his new girlfriend, and that is the one detail readers are still left to wait for. The relationship itself is now public, but the story is less about a reveal than a reset: after 27 years of marriage, and while still carrying grief for Myers, King is saying plainly that the new chapter is already under way.
