Week 4 ended with a simple but important standings note: only three NFL teams were still unbeaten. The Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers and Minnesota Vikings all moved to 4-0, tightening the early-season picture and leaving the league with a much smaller unbeaten field.
That matters in any season, but it stands out even more when the standings are still forming. The Chiefs, 49ers and Vikings are now the only teams listed at 4-0, while the Los Angeles Chargers dropped to 0-4 after losing to the Seattle Seahawks. That contrast gives the first month of the season a much clearer shape and puts even more attention on the teams that have already separated themselves.
Chiefs finish strong in Vegas
The Kansas City Chiefs stayed perfect with a 30-27 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in Vegas. Kansas City was trailing 13-10 heading into the final quarter, but it found enough late to avoid its first loss. In a season where one possession has often been the difference, that kind of finish keeps the Chiefs in the group to beat.
49ers and Vikings stay in the unbeaten mix
The San Francisco 49ers also improved to 4-0, beating the Denver Broncos 24-14 after the game was tied 3-3 until late in the third quarter. The Minnesota Vikings joined them at the top of the early standings with a 15-10 win over the Miami Dolphins. Those results were enough to leave three teams unbeaten after Week 4, with the rest of the league already trying to keep pace.
One of the biggest individual notes from the week came from Brock Purdy, who continued his unbeaten start and has thrown 11 touchdown passes with only one interception. Kirk Cousins was also tied with him for the league lead at 11 touchdown passes, which adds another layer to the early-season quarterback race. With Week 4 now complete, the standings have started to separate, and the teams at 4-0 have created the first real line of demarcation.
