One More Level Games is launching PlayStation Plus Premium: Valor Mortis on Oct. 13, and PlayStation Plus subscribers will get a 90-minute trial at the same time. For a game expected to take about 20 hours to finish, that trial is enough to sample the combat and progression before deciding on a purchase.
William and the 90-minute trial
William, a fallen soldier in Napoleon's army, returns to life inside a first-person soulslike built around a plague that has turned fellow soldiers into monsters. That setup gives the trial a clear purpose: players can test how the game handles its combat loop, then carry their progress forward if they later buy the full version.
The saved-progression detail matters because the trial is not a throwaway demo. It gives PlayStation Plus subscribers a fixed window inside the full release, then leaves them with a clean handoff if they choose to pay for the rest.
Oct. 13 across three platforms
Valor Mortis will launch on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, and it will arrive simultaneously on Game Pass. That makes the Oct. 13 release a subscription and premium sale release at the same time, with the trial aimed at conversion rather than simple sampling.
Publisher Lyrical Games says the game is priced at $39.99 because fall is crowded with new releases, a move that keeps the title below full-price territory. Xbox players can also digitize the physical edition and get a digital license, with Play Anywhere extending that license to additional devices, including PC.
Price, pre-orders, and access
Digital pre-orders are not available, but physical editions can be pre-ordered. That split leaves the launch leaning on subscription access and physical retail rather than advance digital sales, which is unusual for a multi-platform release at this price point.
At $39.99, the game is positioned as a mid-priced release rather than a premium blockbuster, and the 90-minute PlayStation Plus trial is the sharpest marketing tool in the package. If the opening hours land well, that trial could do more business than a standard pre-order page ever would.
What matters now is straightforward: PlayStation Plus subscribers get a limited but transferable sample on Oct. 13, while Game Pass subscribers get the full game that same day. The only open operational question is how the 90-minute trial will be accessed on launch day, and that will decide how frictionless the first run feels.
