Jeremy Clarkson Farm Car Special turns farm produce into a car

Jeremy Clarkson farm car special is back in motion, with Jeremy Clarkson fronting a one-off Clarkson's Farm episode built around an attempt to grow and build his own car. Prime Video has unveiled Jeremy Grows a Car: A Clarkson's Farm Special, a project that pushes the farm series into a far stranger lane than a standard follow-up season.

Clarkson says the next move after Clarkson's Farm has to be “unbelievably ambitious.” That line now has a concrete test: the special will show him trying to achieve a world first by turning produce from Diddly Squat Farm into a working car, then fitting it out with leather interior and wool carpets made on the farm in Oxfordshire.

Ian Callum joins the build

The project is not just Clarkson improvising in a shed. He will be assisted by Ian Callum, the car designer described as the brains behind the original F-Type and the Aston Martin Vanquish. That pairing gives the special a sharper industrial edge than a novelty segment, because the car side of the equation is being handled by someone with a design pedigree rather than a farm hobbyist.

Clarkson plans to use the base of a Jaguar F-Type V6S, then add flax fibre grown at Diddly Squat Farm and turn it into a flax-composite as an alternative to carbon fibre. The special is taking a materials problem that would usually sit in an engineering lab and relocating it to the farm, where the raw inputs are crops rather than an off-the-shelf parts list.

Expectation and Prime Video

Expectation is producing the special, with Andy Wilman, Peter Fincham and Zoe Brewer serving as executive producers. Prime Video will stream it, which keeps the project inside the same ecosystem as Clarkson's Farm while letting the brand try a one-off format instead of committing to another full season.

That matters because Season 5 launched earlier in the year and Clarkson said last month that he had already filmed Season 6. The new special sits between those milestones and his stated ambition to go bigger, which makes the episode feel less like filler and more like a deliberate attempt to keep the franchise from settling into routine.

London remarks at Royal Television Society

At the Royal Television Society conference in London, Clarkson said, “We're currently thinking about what do we do after 'Clarkson's Farm,' and it's going to have to be something bigger to stand out, to protect us from this onslaught from underneath.” He added: “It has to be unbelievably ambitious.”

That is the real frame for Jeremy Grows a Car: A Clarkson's Farm Special. It is a one-off built to prove that Clarkson can still turn a farming show into a machine for bigger, stranger television, and the open question is when Prime Video will put it in front of viewers of Clarkson's Farm and Prime Video.
