Officers responded at about 6:21 p.m. to a ShotSpotter activation outside King Towers NYCHA on West 115th Street. They found two people with gunshot wounds, including Pack, who was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside in critical condition before he died.

The 57-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the hand and was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem in stable condition. Sources told Eyewitness News that he was an innocent bystander, which leaves the shooting with two victims but only one of them in the line of fire. After the shooting, police took a person of interest into custody at the scene.

A separate Harlem boxing story shows how a single result can reshape the next step for one fighter; in this case, investigators have a person in custody but have not announced charges.

The shooting took place outside a public housing complex, a setting that brought the victims into a shared space where one teenager later died and a bystander was left wounded in the hand. Police have not released a motive, so the case now turns on what investigators learn from the person taken into custody and the evidence collected at the scene.

For readers in Harlem, the immediate takeaway is simple: the violence happened in front of a housing complex, injured two people, and has not yet produced a public charge or explanation. That keeps the focus on the investigation rather than the scene itself.
