Cory Wharton and Taylor Selfridge have ended their relationship after nearly 10 years together, and both addressed the split on Oct. 8. Wharton said they are going their separate ways, while Selfridge said she left and was finished accepting a lack of basic respect.

Wharton wrote that they shared “a lot of years, memories, love,” and two daughters, then said the next chapter is about his girls and his own work. He also said, “Being a Girl Dad is what I was put on this earth to do,” a line that makes clear he is trying to keep the focus on parenting rather than the breakup itself.

Wharton and Selfridge

Their relationship stretches back to 2017, when they met on Ex on the Beach. By Oct. 8, the timeline had reached almost a decade, and the split became public in separate social media posts rather than a joint statement. That split in messaging matters because each side drew the line differently: Wharton framed it as a difficult new chapter, and Selfridge framed it as the result of repeated disrespect.

Wharton apologized and said there were times he could have been better. Selfridge was sharper, writing, “I was sick of not getting basic respect from a person I was with for nine years and the father of my two children,” before adding, “I deserve more than that and I’ll get it. End of story.” That is the part that turns a breakup into a read on the relationship’s condition before it ended.

Mila and Maya

The couple share two daughters, Mila, 6, and Maya, 4, and Selfridge’s post ended with a photo captioned “Just me and my girls.” Maya has a congenital heart condition and has required multiple hospital stays, which gives the split a different weight than a routine celebrity breakup; this is a family that has already had to organize around medical stress as well as co-parenting.

Wharton said in May that Maya’s most recent hospital stay temporarily halted their conflicts and refocused them on her health, adding, “Those little things that you tend to stress about in life kind of went away,” and “It changed my perspective on a lot of things.” That history suggests the practical next step is not a public reconciliation or a dramatic cleanup of the story, but a quieter division of roles around Mila and Maya.

Girl Dad

Wharton also has Ryder, 9, with Cheyenne Floyd, so the family structure he is now describing publicly is already a blended one. The businesslike read here is simple: both parents are trying to set terms for what comes after the breakup, but the children — especially Maya, given her health needs — are the fixed point.

The unresolved question is not whether the split happened; it did, on Oct. 8. It is what specific event or pattern finally pushed a nine-year relationship to its end, because both posts point to long buildup, but only Selfridge names the respect issue and only Wharton names the personal work ahead.
