Julie Hesmondhalgh identified all three Traitors in episode 2 of The Celebrity Traitors, and Hannah Fry’s read on the game suggests that the Traitors are already losing room to manoeuvre. The first 15 minutes gave Julie a clean read on the cast map, while Richard E. Grant quickly became the main target.
Round Table and corridor conclave
Julie told James at the Round Table, "I’d recruit you. I think you’re the super-Traitor hunter," and then raised the stakes by saying the celebrities would be "the most idiotic group of faithfuls" if they let Richard E. Grant escape banishment. She also said anyone backing him would be "under the microscope," which is exactly where suspicion landed once the votes started to harden.
In the corridor conclave, Julie, James Acaster and Sebastian Croft discussed Traitor strategy, and Sebastian had already labelled Maya as a potential Traitor. Julie put Maya on her "maybe" list too, which matters because she was not firing off guesses at random; she was narrowing the field to the people whose behaviour best fit the game she was watching.
Richard E. Grant under pressure
All but Jerry Hall, Joanne McNally and Mayh’la thought Richard E. Grant was a Traitor, so Julie was not swimming against the tide. She was pushing on a door that was already open, but she was also giving that suspicion a clearer shape than the rest of the cast managed. James and Maya said nothing in Richard E. Grant’s defence at the Round Table, and that silence left him exposed.
James made the line of attack even sharper when he said, "Richard thinks the main job I’ve got it to clear his name, but I’m not going to go down with him." That leaves Richard carrying the blame alone if the room keeps splitting around him, while Julie keeps the advantage of having read the board early instead of chasing it late.
Hannah Fry and episode 3
Professor Hannah Fry said, "These are Traitors who are not comfortable, who are not cocksure, who are not strategic." That is the real business consequence for the game: once a player like Julie is identifying the whole Traitor set this early, the Traitors have to change how they speak, whom they recruit and how aggressively they use the next Round Table.
Will Richard E. Grant actually be banished in episode 3, and if so, whom will the Traitors recruit next? Julie has already made herself the player they need to break first, because anyone who can spot all three Traitors in the first 15 minutes is no longer just participating in the game — she is setting its pace.
