Ashton Jeanty says his ankle is getting stronger after the injury he suffered in August, and the Las Vegas Raiders running back believes he is close to being back to full speed. After Sunday’s Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Jeanty said he is “feeling all right” and expects to be “100 percent real soon.”
That is an important update for the Raiders because Jeanty has still been a major part of their offence despite the setback. He opened the 2026 NFL season with 102 rushing yards in a Week 1 victory over the Miami Dolphins, but he was unable to match that level in Sunday’s 30-27 defeat in Kansas City.
Jeanty remains central to the Raiders’ offence
In Sunday’s game, Jeanty had 15 carries for 58 yards and added six catches for 68 yards. That receiving production underlines how much the Raiders continue to lean on him, even if the rushing numbers have not yet returned to his Week 1 standard.
For Jeanty, the message was simple after the loss. “I think we just got to be better, simple as that,” he said. “Make the plays out there.” He added that the chances were there, but the team has to finish them. “They’re there,” he said. “So it starts with us, starts with me.”
What Jeanty said after the Chiefs game
Jeanty’s own assessment was encouraging from a health point of view. He said the ankle is improving and that recovery is still moving in the right direction. “Just gotta get back to work, keep rehabbing (and) keep making sure … I’m going to continue to keep getting better and stronger,” he said.
He also spoke about the next step in that process, making clear that he expects the injury to keep fading as the season goes on. “It’s getting stronger, and I feel like I’m going to be 100 percent real soon,” he said.
That should be welcome news for the Raiders. Jeanty has already shown he can impact games in multiple ways, and if the ankle continues to improve, he could become even more difficult to contain as the 2026 NFL season moves on.
