Florida’s gymnastics roster changed on Wednesday, and the move reached beyond a routine personnel update. Skylar Draser, Ly Bui and Lily Bruce were all removed at once, ending a stretch in which each had played a different but meaningful role for the program. The departure of three gymnasts at the same time, including a senior and two juniors, leaves an unexplained gap in the public record.
Draser was described as the most productive of the trio during her time at Florida, and her name is tied to a broader team identity. She helped Florida create “The Promise,” a motto that guided the Gators last season toward a NCAA Championships appearance and a top-four finish. That makes her exit notable not only because of her individual value, but because she was part of a larger push that shaped the program’s recent success.
A trio with recent moments of impact
The three gymnasts all leave behind specific snapshots that show why the roster move matters. Lily Bruce posted a career high of 9.8 on bars on Jan. 9 and matched that career high again on March 13. Ly Bui hit 9.925 on vault in the leadoff spot in the 2026 season opener, but later hyperextended her knee on vault on Jan. 23 and was sidelined for the rest of the season. Draser’s value, meanwhile, came from the consistency and productivity that made her one of the more reliable pieces in the group.
The numbers do not tell the full story, but they do show that this was not a collection of fringe names. Bruce had individual highs, Bui showed lineup value before her injury, and Draser had the strongest overall body of work of the three. When a team removes that much experience and production at once, the effect is bigger than the roster math.
Coach Jenny Rowland said, “We wish them well moving forward,” and added that the team’s focus remains on supporting its athletes and maintaining “a team culture built on accountability, respect and commitment.” That statement is careful, and it is also revealing. It confirms the program wants to control the message around the change while not offering a public explanation for why the trio is no longer with the team.
That lack of explanation matters because the timing turns the roster move into its own story. Florida does not just lose three gymnasts; it loses three names that had already appeared in the program’s recent arc. Draser’s departure is the most symbolic because of her connection to The Promise, but Bui and Bruce also mattered in different ways through results that suggested lineup usefulness.
For Florida, the immediate question is not only who left, but how the program absorbs the change after a season built on accountability and a top-four NCAA Championships finish. The answer will unfold on the floor and in the lineup decisions that follow. For now, Wednesday’s roster move reads as a clean break with a group that had helped shape the program’s recent identity.
