Kadeem Hardison and Darryl M. Bell are turning a long-running reunion idea into a weekly series. Their new podcast, A Different World View with Darryl & Kadeem, premieres on Thursday, October 15, 2026, and starts by revisiting A Different World episode by episode.
Darryl M. Bell said the launch was something he and Hardison had wanted to do for over 25 years, a long runway for a show that now arrives under iHeartMedia and Charlamagne Tha God’s Black Effect Podcast Network. The podcast will be distributed by iHeartPodcasts, with video episodes also available on YouTube.
Season 2, Episode 2
The rewatch begins with Season 2, Episode 2, a choice that gives the show a built-in anchor point instead of a random start. Debbie Allen’s first episode with the original series was Season 2, Episode 2, so the podcast opens where the show’s history and its new framing meet.
That matters because the series is not just looking backward. Hardison and Bell will also explore the upcoming Netflix sequel series, and they will do it from the perspective of the two actors who originally played Dwayne Wayne and Ron Johnson Jr. They are revisiting nearly four decades of television history while also stepping into a new production that brings those roles back.
Debbie Allen first guest
Debbie Allen will be the first guest, which gives the premiere episode immediate connective tissue to both the original series and the sequel. She serves as an executive producer of the Netflix project, directs its premiere episode, and appears as Dr. Langhorne, so her opening-seat role on the podcast ties the rewatch to the next chapter in the franchise.
Dollie S. Bishop said A Different World had an undeniable impact on Black culture, and Kadeem and Darryl are such an important part of that legacy. She added, “We’re excited to give them a platform to bring their friendship and comedy to listeners everywhere.”
Weekly from October 15
Weekly releases mean the podcast will move at the pace of a current entertainment conversation rather than a nostalgia archive. Hardison and Bell will pair behind-the-scenes stories and reflections on the show’s cultural impact with conversations about entertainment, pop culture, sports and other topics, giving the series a wider lane than a standard recap format.
The setup leaves one practical question open for listeners: how many episodes the podcast will run is not stated. What is clear is the launch plan itself — a weekly October 15 premiere, a first guest with direct franchise ties, and a distribution model built to keep the original series in circulation while the sequel advances.
