Arizona’s Week 6 trip to West Virginia brings a little history with it. The Wildcats and Mountaineers met for the first time last October in Tucson, where West Virginia earned a 31-26 win. Now Arizona is headed to Morgantown for the first meeting between the programs there, with another Big 12 game carrying plenty of early-season weight.
The matchup also arrives at a good time for Arizona. Brent Brennan’s team is 4-1 after last weekend’s 34-7 win over Cincinnati, and the Wildcats are 1-1 in Big 12 play. That start matters in a conference where early losses can quickly shape the race, especially on the road.
What Arizona is bringing into Morgantown
One of the biggest reasons Arizona has stayed on track is the steady play of Noah Fifita. He enters the week with 86 career touchdown passes and 10,598 career passing yards, production that gives the Wildcats a proven answer at quarterback.
The other key point is Arizona’s recent momentum. The Wildcats are coming off a 3-game win streak, and Brennan has now guided the program to a 4-1 start in back-to-back seasons. That makes him the first Arizona head coach to do that since Dick Tomey in 1993 and 1994.
West Virginia has its own storyline, of course. Rich Rodriguez is back on the sideline for the Mountaineers after previously coaching Arizona from 2012-17 and posting a 43-35 record. This game is one more layer in a meeting that already carries some coaching history in addition to the conference stakes.
When and how to follow the game
Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday at 9:00 a.m. MST in Tucson, which means an early start for Arizona fans. The game will be carried on TNT, truTV and HBO Max, and it can also be heard on Wildcats Radio 1290 AM and KHYT 107.5 FM.
For Arizona, the trip to Morgantown is more than just another road game. It is a chance to continue building on a strong start, protect momentum in Big 12 play, and handle a first-time road environment against a familiar opponent that already knows how to beat it.
