East Carolina University has moved its football game against Rice to 1 p.m. Saturday because of weather concerns tied to Hurricane Isaias. The change affects a key part of ECU Homecoming Week and gives fans a new timetable for game day in Greenville.
The adjusted kickoff comes after ECU kicked off Homecoming Week on Wednesday with several events and activities. With the schedule change, several pregame plans also shifted to fit the earlier start.
Saturday game-day schedule
Parking lots will open at 8 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the Homecoming Parade at 9 a.m. The Pirate Walk is set for 10:45 a.m., and stadium gates will open at 11 a.m. ECU will then play Rice at 1 p.m.
The timing change is the main update for fans heading to East Carolina University for the game, especially those planning to attend the parade, Pirate Walk, or other Homecoming Week activities before kickoff. It also reflects the impact Hurricane Isaias is having on Eastern Carolina.
For ECU, the revised schedule keeps the game on Saturday while moving it to a safer and earlier window. That means supporters will need to arrive earlier than originally planned, but the full Homecoming atmosphere is still set to continue around the game.
