Laurențiu Reghecampf received a key administrative boost before FCSB’s match with Oțelul Galați, after FRF sent an official address accepting that he can coach officially in domestic competitions. The decision clears the way for him to be on the bench immediately, but it does not close the financial dispute that sits behind the case.
The issue has been linked to an unresolved debt toward Universitatea Craiova. Before returning to FCSB, Reghecampf had been barred from coaching in Superliga because of a 150,000-euro obligation, and the matter still needs a final ruling from Comisia de Disciplină și Etică. By 14 October 2026, that commission must decide on his request regarding the financial obligations at the center of the disagreement.
What FRF’s decision means
For FCSB, the immediate takeaway is simple: Reghecampf has been accepted to coach officially before the match with Oțelul Galați. That is important because it removes the short-term uncertainty around his presence on the bench for the game.
Still, the FRF step is administrative rather than final. The underlying dispute with Universitatea Craiova remains open, and the disciplinary process is still in motion. In other words, Reghecampf’s status for this match is one thing; the broader sporting and legal consequences could be another.
The financial dispute is still unresolved
The case remains rooted in money. On the day of the statement, the FCSB patron said he paid 150,000 euros to Craiova and argued that the amount in the document was 150,000 euros, without interest. He also said the clubs could still argue over the issue, but maintained that the debt had been paid.
There is also the possibility that Oțelul Galați could contest Reghecampf’s status, which could affect FCSB’s sporting position. That means the story is not finished, even if the coach has now received the green light to work officially in the short term.
For now, the practical result is that FCSB can prepare for Oțelul with Reghecampf in place. The longer answer depends on what happens next at Comisia de Disciplină și Etică and whether the dispute with Universitatea Craiova leads to further action.
