Misfits Boxing has added another recognisable name to its roster, with Michael Venom Page officially signing for the promotion after the UFC opted not to re-sign him.
The move follows a busy stretch for Page. In September, he beat Nursulton Ruziboev by unanimous decision at UFC Paris, taking his record to 5-1 before the UFC decided to move on. On Saturday in London, Misfits Boxing confirmed the signing and announced that Michael Venom Page had joined the promotion.
Why Michael Venom Page left the UFC
The key reason Page became available was simple: the UFC did not bring him back. Dana White said, "Listen, at the end of the day, the matchmakers make the decisions on who stays and who goes, and they didn’t want to re-sign him," which made the situation clear enough for a new opportunity to open elsewhere.
Page was said to be fielding offers from a number of combat sports promotions before choosing Misfits Boxing. That is no surprise given the profile he carries, along with the fact that he remains a fighter known primarily for his standup skills. He does much better work on the feet than in grappling, which makes a boxing-style move a natural fit.
What Misfits Boxing gains from the signing
For Misfits Boxing, the appeal is straightforward. Page brings name value, a UFC background, and a style that should translate well into the promotion's format. KSI also used the announcement to highlight the move, underlining the scale of the signing for the promotion.
It is also a reminder of how quickly combat sports momentum can shift. Page was winning in UFC Paris in September, but by Saturday in London he had been confirmed as part of a different promotion altogether. For Misfits Boxing, that is a notable addition. For Page, it is a fresh platform after a UFC run that ended as quickly as it did unexpectedly.
