Strictly Come Dancing week 3 results delivered the series’ first elimination on Sunday night, with Chris Appleton and Amy Dowden leaving after the first dance-off. The bottom two came from the combined judges’ scores and Saturday night’s public vote, which sent Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu into the head-to-head with them.

Bottom Two on Sunday

Chris Appleton and Amy Dowden performed a cha cha to "I'll Be Ready" from Baywatch in the dance-off, while Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu answered with the same dance to "Oh, Pretty Woman" from Pretty Woman. Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke all chose to save Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu, leaving Appleton and Dowden as the first couple out of the series.

Three Votes, No Deadlock

Craig Revel Horwood said he would have also saved Jaime Winstone and Carlos Gu if he had needed to vote. That made the outcome straightforward: three judges had already settled the result before his turn mattered, so the dance-off ended without a split decision or any delay over the final verdict.

Movie Week Aftermath

The first results show of the series came after last week’s opening live performances, when all the couples danced for the first time and there was no public vote. Sunday’s programme also included a performance from Matilda The Musical, with the four young performers who play Matilda singing "Quiet" alongside Tim Minchin, and a routine from The Strictly Professionals inspired by The Devil Wears Prada.

Strictly returns this weekend with the remaining fourteen couples, and the practical question now is whether the early combined scoring has already separated the middle of the pack from the pairs likely to keep landing in the bottom two. For Appleton and Dowden, the run is over after one vote too many went against them.
