Richard E Grant was banished in a landslide vote on Thursday’s episode of The Celebrity Traitors. He had already told the other celebrities he was a traitor, and the room moved fast once that confession landed.
That vote made Grant the first traitor identified at the opening round table in the UK version of the show. He thanked the others for giving him “an almost bingo full-house of votes” and added: “I have always wanted to be a traitor, and sometimes in life your dreams do come true.”
Ross Kemp and Joanne McNally
Ross Kemp answered Grant’s reveal with “get in there!” Joanne McNally was more blunt, saying: “This is me with men all the time” and “I completely believed him!” Julie Hesmondhalgh also spotted a clue before she voted, saying she saw Myha’la winking at Grant and describing the moment as “traitor-on-traitor.”
Hesmondhalgh added, “I don’t know if anybody else saw it,” and, “I am so excited because I truly believe we can get two in a row.” The sequence shows how quickly a self-exposure can collapse any cover in a format built on group reading rather than private proof.
Maya Jama and James Acaster
Later in Thursday, Maya Jama and James Acaster met in the turret and chose Hannah Fry as their recruit. Jerry Hall and Hannah Fry had both been shortlisted as murder targets, but the pair switched from removal to conversion and brought Fry into the game instead.
Fry’s reaction when she learned she was being seduced rather than murdered gave the episode its sharpest pivot. It also left the remaining side with two players, while Grant’s exit turned a single reckless disclosure into the first opening-round-table identification of a traitor in the UK version.
The episode works because it punishes one clean mistake: once Grant said the quiet part out loud, the group only needed to vote. If the next move matters, it is the one Maya Jama and James Acaster just made — adding Hannah Fry rather than burning Jerry Hall.
