The long-awaited Fury Vs Joshua Heavyweight Championship Bout now has a major world title attached to it. Frank Warren said the WBA belt will be on the line when Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua meet on December 11 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.

Warren made clear that the fight is more than just a marquee heavyweight meeting. It will be a title bout, with the winner set to leave Cardiff in position to push deeper into the division's title picture. He also pointed to the bigger goal behind the matchup: determining who can move closer to becoming the top man in a heavyweight landscape still being sorted out after Oleksandr Usyk vacated belts.

Why the title matters

Warren said the WBA situation remains in flux, with a super champion and a regular titlist both part of the picture. He noted that after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the belt, Murat Gassiev was expected to be elevated to full champion, while the Fury-Joshua winner would still have a version of the belt at stake.

"That is the case at the moment. That's going to be on the line," Warren said. He added that the goal is to sort out "who's the best" and eventually find out "who's going to hold all the belts" and become the No 1 heavyweight.

That makes the December 11 bout more than a one-night event. It is part of a wider effort to bring some order to heavyweight boxing, where title routes have become fragmented and the biggest names are still being linked to future unification plans.

What could come next

Warren also pointed to another major heavyweight date this week: Daniel Dubois vs Fabio Wardley in a rematch for the WBO heavyweight title on Saturday. He said the winner of that fight could meet the Fury-Joshua winner next year, which would keep Queensberry Promotions at the center of the division.

According to Warren, Queensberry Promotions has three of the four heavyweight champions on its roster, a position that could shape the next round of title negotiations. He said the aim is for those names to be involved in major fights in 2027, with the Fury-Joshua winner potentially part of that process.

Dubois was also clear about his interest in the result. He said if he is handed one of the winners, he will take the fight, calling it a "nice appetiser" and saying he is ready for whoever is offered next. He added that he would "gladly take on the winner of that" and "stake my claim" for the belts and everything that comes with them.

For Fury and Joshua, the setup is straightforward: win in Cardiff, add a WBA belt to the mix, and stay in the conversation for the biggest heavyweight fights still ahead.
