Google Fitbit Edge Fitness Tracker Opens $179.99 Pre-Orders

Google has opened pre-orders for the Google Fitbit Edge fitness tracker at $179.99. The new slim tracker arrives with seven-day battery life and retail availability set for October 27. Buyers now have a middle option between a full smartwatch and a simpler band.

Fitbit Edge at $179.99

The price puts the Edge below a smartwatch class device and above a basic band in Google’s wearable lineup. That position is deliberate, because the company is selling it as a device for people who want tracking without a heavier watch on the wrist.

The Edge is slim, lightweight, and 11.5mm thin. Google also says it is 45% lighter than the Apple Watch Series 12. Those numbers point to a tracker meant for all-day wear, not a device that competes on size or weight with a full watch.

Google Health Premium on Fitbit Edge

The tracker uses advanced health sensors to monitor heart rate, sleep, and recovery. It also adds precise GPS, automatic workout recognition, and personalized coaching through Google Health Premium. For buyers, that means the device is built to collect routine fitness data and then turn it into guided feedback rather than just raw logs.

Google first brought Google Health Coach to Pixel Watch and Fitbit Air, and the Edge extends that approach into a new form factor. That matters because the company is now offering the same coaching idea across more than one kind of wearable, instead of tying it to only a watch or only a simpler band.

Hybrid OLED and October 27

The Edge uses a Hybrid OLED display with 46% more viewing area than previous trackers. Google says the watch has a vibrant display, and the bigger screen should make stats easier to read during workouts and throughout the day. The redesigned physical side button is a more practical touch than a flashy one.

The contradiction is obvious: Google is selling the Edge as slim and lightweight, yet it also says the device delivers weekend-to-weekend battery life. That tradeoff is the real test here, because buyers will want to know whether the larger screen and richer health features are worth the $179.99 pre-order before retail sales start on October 27.
