Church news in Montpelier turns to October 18, 2026, when Henry B. Eyring will dedicate the Montpelier Idaho Temple at 10 a.m. MDT. The service will be rebroadcast at 2 p.m. MDT and will be sent to congregations within the temple district.
The temple will open as the 225th operating temple worldwide for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. More than 15,000 Church members in Idaho, Utah and Wyoming are in that district, giving the dedication immediate reach across three states.

Eyring serves as First Counselor in the First Presidency. The dedication follows a public open house that ran from September 10 through 26, 2026, excluding Sundays, after a media day on September 8. President Russell M. Nelson announced the temple at the April 2022 general conference, and a groundbreaking ceremony followed in June 2023.
The Montpelier Idaho Temple stands at 534 Washington Street in Montpelier. When it is dedicated, it will be the eighth dedicated temple in Idaho.
Idaho Temple Network
Idaho already has seven dedicated temples named in the source: the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple, Boise Idaho Temple, Burley Idaho Temple, Rexburg Idaho Temple, Twin Falls Idaho Temple, Meridian Idaho Temple and Pocatello Idaho Temple. The Teton River Idaho Temple and Coeur d’Alene Idaho Temple are under construction, while the Caldwell Idaho Temple was announced in April 2025.
That leaves the October 18 service as part of a state temple buildout that is still moving. For members in the district, the dedication is the next step from public viewing to regular use, with the broadcast extending the ceremony beyond Montpelier itself.
October 18 Dedication
The schedule gives local congregations a 10 a.m. MDT service and a 2 p.m. MDT rebroadcast, both tied to the same dedication day. What ceremonial details or participants will be included in the October 18 dedication service remains the open question left by the announcement.
