Two people died after a domestic dispute Monday at Great Wolf Lodge in Monroe County, and the resort said the incident happened in a guest room at the Pocono Mountains property. A resort spokesman confirmed the deaths Tuesday, and the Pocono Township Police Department scheduled a Tuesday afternoon press conference at the police station.
Jason Lasecki, the resort’s vice president of corporate communications, said, "We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by a tragic domestic incident that occurred yesterday in a guest room at our resort in the Pocono Mountains." He added that, "It was an isolated family incident, and we’re cooperating fully with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation."
Great Wolf Lodge on Route 611
The deaths occurred at Great Wolf Lodge on Route 611 near Interstate 80 in Monroe County. Lasecki said the resort saw no ongoing security concern after law enforcement assessed the situation, and he asked that further information be directed to the Pocono Township Police Department.
The resort’s description of the case as an isolated family incident leaves police with the task of explaining what led to the two deaths. Great Wolf Lodge said it was cooperating fully with local law enforcement, while the police department and the Monroe County Coroner’s Office did not immediately provide additional information.
The Tuesday afternoon briefing was set to be the first public update from Pocono Twp. Police are expected to release what they can at the station, with the resort’s statement already pointing readers back to the investigators for the next round of facts.
