Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz were photographed together for the first time on the Brendan Fraser Rachel Weisz mummy set in London on Tuesday, turning a long-running franchise reunion into an on-set reality. The image matters because the pair last shared the screen in The Mummy Returns 25 years earlier, and The Mummy 4 is already slated for May 2028.
London puts the pairing back on camera
The two were filming a scene, with Weisz in a belted maroon coat, a coordinating skirt, black pumps, and her curls pulled back. Fraser wore a green flannel under a corduroy jacket with dark denim jeans and boots, a practical wardrobe that signals the production is deep enough into filming to move beyond simple reunion photos and into scene work.
Fraser first played Rick O’Connell and Weisz first played Evelyn Carnahan in The Mummy in 1999, then returned two years later for The Mummy Returns. By the second film, Carnahan and O’Connell were married and had a child, so the franchise now brings back a pair whose screen relationship already has a clear endpoint built into the story.
Weisz, China, and the gap
Weisz’s return carries extra weight because she did not take part in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008. Maria Bello played her role in that film after Weisz said to ES Magazine in 2008 that it would have required five months in China when she was already signed onto another film.
That absence is why this on-set reunion lands as more than a publicity shot: it restores the original pairing after a detour that split the franchise’s core duo for one installment. For viewers who followed the series from the start, the practical takeaway is simple — the new film is not treating Fraser’s return as a solo reset, but as a full restoration of the central relationship.
May 2028 keeps the clock running
The Mummy 4 was already set for May 2028, so the Tuesday images do not change the calendar; they show the production is moving on schedule with its lead pairing in place. Oded Fehr, John Hannah, and Kevin J. O’Connor are also returning, while Michael Johnston and Numan Acar join the cast under Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.
What matters now is the scene itself: Fraser and Weisz are back in frame together, in London, and the franchise is leaning into the original chemistry rather than treating their reunion as a separate event from the movie.
