Jessie Wallace Drives Kat And Alfie Eastenders Storyline With Grief Fallout

Kat Moon’s drunken grief drives the Kat and Alfie EastEnders storyline on Wednesday, October 14, as Jessie Wallace’s character spirals after Zoe Slater’s death. Alfie Moon ends the episode by telling her to sort her behaviour out, after a night that turns public and ugly fast.

Kat spent much of the last month lying in Zoe Slater’s bed and refusing to get changed, then drank heavily after finding her daughter dead in her bed. The episode’s sharpest turn comes when she is alone in Square Gardens, takes alcohol from the barrel store, and later tells people in The Vic that all drinks for the remainder of the evening were on the house.

Square Gardens to The Vic

Kat’s route through the episode is the point. She moves from sitting alone in Square Gardens, to stumbling into the market, to knocking into Ned Hawkins, then to Phil Mitchell finding her drunk and steering her back to his house.

From there, the scene turns louder, not calmer. She raids Phil Mitchell’s cupboards for booze, insults people, and returns to The Vic ready to keep the night going rather than cut it short.

Alfie Moon Draws The Line

Inside The Vic, Kat insults Alfie Moon and Jean Slater while sitting beside a group of rowdy lads, then wishes death upon her granddaughter, Jasmine Fisher. She also guides a man into the women’s toilets while Alfie is busy unblocking the toilet in a cubicle, and then accidentally knocks Tommy Moon to the floor when he shows concern for her.

Alfie’s response is blunt: “Right, enough is enough.” He slams the door behind him and demands they sort her behaviour out there and then, which gives the episode its clearest boundary after a string of public incidents.

Ned Hawkins And The Rumour Mill

Ned Hawkins only adds to the noise around the story. Fans were convinced Kat would cheat on Alfie after the encounter, but the episode itself only goes as far as drunken grief and an unstable confrontation, not a new relationship turn.

That distinction matters because the immediate story is not romance but fallout: Kat is still acting out after Zoe’s death, Alfie has reached the point of demanding a reset, and Jessie Wallace’s latest scenes leave the marriage under pressure rather than resolved.
