Greece’s minimum wage 2027 path points to about €960 in April 2027, with the draft budget also projecting a 0.5-percentage-point cut in employee social security contributions. For workers already near the bottom of the pay scale, the change is modest in cash terms but broad in reach, because around one in three salaried employees in the private sector still earns less than €1,000 a month.
€960 in April 2027
€960 is the projected monthly floor in April 2027, and it sits just below the €1,000 mark that still separates a large share of lower-paid workers from the rest of the labor market. The same draft budget says a further increase in January 2028 would push the monthly rate above €1,000, implying a two-step climb rather than a single jump.
0.5 percentage points is the planned cut in employee social security contributions, which works through payroll rather than through headline wage tables. For a worker earning €960 a month, that means the deduction falls on each monthly paycheck by the same fraction, lifting take-home pay without changing the posted minimum wage itself.
Greece wages and pensions
3.9% is the projected rise in average nominal earnings per employee in 2027, but that pace does not translate one-for-one into buying power. Inflation in Greece was 4.4% in the second quarter of 2026, and the source says real earnings growth is expected to be only 1.4% in 2027 because price gains are still eating into pay.
2.8% is the expected pension increase from Jan. 1, 2027, at an estimated budgetary cost of €807 million. That change matters for pensioners immediately, because the increase is scheduled to start at the beginning of the year rather than waiting for the wage adjustment in April.
Public-sector bonus at year-end
€500 is the new Christmas bonus planned for public-sector employees at the end of 2027, and about 720,000 workers are expected to receive it. The draft budget also says the minimum wage path feeds into public-sector entry-level pay, with that increase projected to reach €80 by January 2028.
One in three salaried private-sector employees still earns less than €1,000 a month, while approximately 900,000 employees make more than €1,500 and about 250,000 receive between €2,000 and €3,000. The clearest immediate effect is on lower-paid workers and entry-level public pay, but the budget also carries the pension rise and the year-end bonus into 2027 without explaining how the final implementation will be handled in the budget text.
