Cody Rhodes says he is at a crossroads after winning the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40 and may step away for a minute to pursue TV and film work. He said WWE now gives him room to explore those projects while he remains tied to the company.
“We’re at a, no pun intended, a crossroads in my career,” Rhodes said. He added, “I’ve got the bug for TV film. I’m obsessed.”
WrestleMania 40 and Rhodes
Rhodes tied the shift to the moment he said he reached the top of his wrestling career. He said his biggest dream was to be the WWE Champion, and that he won that title and finished his story at WrestleMania 40.
He said his sister told him, “Be careful what you wish for ‘cause at this rate you’re going to get it.” Rhodes also said he spoke to Tom Brady about how to approach competition after reaching the top in a sport, and Brady told him that “the goal becomes to win for everyone else.”
Nick Khan and Triple H
Rhodes said he wants to keep growing as a storyteller and an artist, then bring that work back to WWE. He said that “there might be some things that come up where I leave for a minute to do,” and that “there might be some things we haven’t talked about.”
He said that “Nick Khan and Triple H” are allowing “that element” of outside work. He also said that when he is at WWE, he wants everybody else to win.
That creates a practical shift for WWE: Rhodes is not describing retirement, but he is describing the possibility of short absences for outside projects. For fans and for WWE’s weekly plans, the immediate issue is availability, not a finished exit.
TV and film work
Rhodes did not name a specific project. He said only that he has the bug for TV film and may leave briefly to do it, which leaves the timing and length of any absence tied to whatever work he chooses next.
The key point for WWE is simple. Rhodes has already said he wants to keep wrestling while building work beyond it, and that means his next stretch could be divided between WWE and outside screens instead of being locked to one schedule.
