Apple Store customers can pre-order iPhone Duo beginning Friday, October 16, at 5 a.m. PT on Apple.com and in the Apple Store app. That gives buyers their first chance to lock in the foldable phone through either channel, instead of waiting for in-store availability or a later online window.
Apple Store and iPhone Duo timing
The pre-order opening is the first dated buying step Apple has set for iPhone Duo, and it starts at 5 a.m. PT, not at the more common daytime retail hour. Buyers who want the device on launch day will need to act when those orders open, because Apple has tied the purchase window to Apple.com and the Apple Store app from the start.
Apple says iPhone Duo has its largest iPhone display ever in a foldable design. Opened, it is the thinnest iPhone ever. Those two details tell shoppers what changes most in use: more screen when unfolded, and less bulk when carried shut.
Apple Trade In and Apple Upgrade
Apple Trade In offers instant credit from $175 to $885 when a customer trades in an eligible iPhone 13 or higher. Apple Upgrade offers 12- and 24-month leasing options for iPhone, with prices starting as low as $57.99 per month for a 24-month lease for iPhone Duo, excluding taxes and any trade-in credit.
That means the upfront price is not the only number that matters. A shopper who uses trade-in credit, leasing, or both can cut the amount due at checkout, while a buyer who skips those programs has to face the full cost on Apple.com or in the Apple Store app.
AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon
Apple also says customers can get up to $1,200 in credit toward iPhone Duo when trading in iPhone 14 Pro Max or higher through carrier deals. Customers can activate the phone with AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon. Apple Card customers in the U.S. can pay over time at 0 percent APR with Apple Card Monthly Installments, and they can earn 3 percent Daily Cash back all up front.
For buyers, the catch is simple: the best deal depends on which path they qualify for. Trade-in credit, leasing terms, carrier credits, and Apple Card eligibility can point to very different monthly costs, so the headline price on iPhone Duo will not tell the whole story.
The one number Apple still leaves hanging is the outright price for customers who do not use leasing, trade-in, carrier offers, or Apple Card financing. That is the figure many buyers will need before deciding whether to order at 5 a.m. PT on Friday.
