Kate Middleton released Kate Middleton Cornwall portraits and a video shot in Cornwall, using the same day to announce a new Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood project. The project is built around nature-based learning for babies and young children.
In the video, she said, "New scientific research increasingly shows just how important nature is for our physical and psychological wellbeing." She added that the work will explore how nature, creativity, and relationships can best support healthy development.
Cornwall and The Duchy of Cornwall
Kensington Palace said she was in Cornwall yesterday to learn more about the potential of nature-based learning in the earliest years of life. It also said the project is being announced with The Duchy of Cornwall as a founding partner.
The Court Circular said both Kate and William visited the Duchy of Cornwall’s Nansledan site near Newquay, Cornwall, yesterday afternoon. Josh Shinner took portraits of Kate in the woods the same day, adding a second visual release to the announcement.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry
The timing put the release beside Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s first joint public event since moving back to the U.K., which took place in Nottingham yesterday. A source close to the Prince and Princess of Wales told People on September 1 that any reconciliation will be a slow build.
That leaves the Cornwall project as the immediate public step. Kate said the research is meant to build supportive environments that make nature more accessible across the U.K. for babies, young children, and their families.
