Caleb and Andres Furley found dead in Gainesville on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, after police searched a North Grand Avenue area tied to the missing-child case. Caleb Furley and his 4-year-old son were the focus of an active search that had included an AMBER Alert for Andres Harry Furley.
The Gainesville Police Department said officers responded at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday to a call in the 1300 block of North Grand Avenue. Investigators later reviewed surveillance footage and identified the missing pair walking away from the area before a subsequent search led to the discovery of a deceased man and child.
North Grand Avenue search
The search centered on a business on North Grand Avenue where a relative told police the father and son had been seen on Monday, October 12, at about 3 p.m. A caller had also reported a suspicious contact involving an adult male and a child at that business that day, and an officer responded with a drone to search the area.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Andres Harry Furley was last known to be with Caleb Furley after he failed to show up for a custody exchange with the boy's mother. Authorities issued a warrant for Caleb Furley for parental kidnapping, and investigators noted he may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol alert
The case had been handled as a missing-person investigation involving an Oklahoma father and his 4-year-old son. The boy was the subject of an Endangered Missing Advisory and an AMBER Alert, which made the Wednesday discovery a same-day end to the search for him.
Later Wednesday, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the AMBER Alert was canceled because Andres Furley had been found. That notice came after police had already located the bodies, and positive identification was still pending verification by the medical examiner.
Texas Rangers investigation
The Texas Department of Public Safety Rangers were called in to assist with the ongoing investigation. The case now turns on the medical examiner's identification and the cause of death for Caleb Furley and Andres Harry Furley, which investigators have not yet released.
