West is set to face Beasley on Friday as part of Brand Risk 16, a card linked to Brand Risk Promotions through Adin Ross. Other fights are scheduled on the same program, including Deshae Frost and YK Osiris.
The setup explains why the marriage post landed now. West’s boxing return has been built around the Brand Risk Promotions fight events, so his personal announcement entered the same cycle as his ring appearance and the rest of the card.
West’s earlier career path
Before boxing, West was drafted by the Celtics 24th overall out of Saint Joseph’s University in 2004. He later joined the Cavaliers in 2008, then was arrested in 2009 for possession of a firearm while with Cleveland. He officially moved away from pro basketball in 2012.
West has also faced a difficult public stretch in recent years. He was arrested again last year on assault and robbery charges, and he has been photographed appearing to be homeless and panhandling while dealing with mental health and substance abuse issues.

At Wednesday’s Brand Risk 16 pre-fight media availability, West also addressed longstanding rumors about a relationship with Gloria James, the mother of LeBron James. When asked about the rumor, he said, "A gentleman never tells," and later said on a livestream with N3on that James and his mother still often reach out to check in on him and his family.
