Billy Evans said he was “100 percent” worried Elizabeth Holmes was scamming him. That exchange lands in You Can See Everything, the documentary where what did Elizabeth Holmes do becomes part of the story again through his account of their relationship and her Theranos scandal.
“100 percent, but what does she have to gain from me?” Evans said when asked if he feared he was being scammed. He also said, “I think there’s a lot of different levels of wealth.” Those lines give the documentary its sharpest tension: he knew the public case around Holmes, yet still chose to describe their relationship as something that moved quickly toward commitment.
Elizabeth Holmes and Billy Evans
Evans and Holmes got engaged in August 2018, then had a son, William Holmes Evans, in 2021. By 2023, a court document revealed that the couple had a second child, a daughter named Invicta. In a 2023 joint interview with, Evans said, “To say we immediately fell in love isn’t an overstatement,” while Holmes said the skepticism around her changed how they got to know each other.
Holmes said, “It had been two years of all this stuff written about me, and I think you get to know someone in a totally different way when you walk in with that skepticism versus if you meet when everything is sunshine and roses.” She added, “That allowed us to get to know each other in a really deep way.” The documentary uses that relationship backdrop while revisiting the days leading up to her prison sentence, a period that keeps her Theranos case in frame even as the focus shifts to her private life.
Billy Evans and Haemanthus
Evans’s own background runs through the documentary, too. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2011 to 2015 and earned a bachelor’s degree in economics. He has been CEO of Haemanthus since 2022, and the company says it is an AI-driven medical testing startup founded by Evans that aims to create a device that tests blood in addition to urine and saliva for the presence of diseases.
His family history is part of that picture. William and Anne Evans own Evans Hotel Group, and Evans Hotels was founded in 1953 with three luxury properties: The Lodge Terry Pines, the Bahia Resort Hotel, and the Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa, all in California. In 2025, Haemanthus said, “This is not Theranos 2.0.” It also said, “Setting the record straight. Elizabeth Holmes has zero involvement in Haemanthus. We’ve learned from her company’s mistakes, but she has no role, now or future.”
Theranos in You Can See Everything
The documentary asks viewers to sit with two versions of Holmes at once: the public figure tied to Theranos, and the private partner Evans describes. Nathan Fielder asked her to document the days leading up to serving her prison sentence, and the result is a portrait that folds legal fallout, marriage, and parenthood into one timeline. Holmes’s case remains the legal anchor, but Evans’s comments turn the film into something more specific than a recap of her scandal.
For anyone tracking Holmes after Theranos, the unresolved point is narrower now: how much of her life sits outside that old case, and how much still circles back to it. The film leaves that boundary in view while Evans stands beside her in it.
