Gypsy Rose Blanchard said her last in-person interaction with Ken Urker came in late September, when she brought Burger King to his house and left it outside his door. She said she did not know it would be the final time she saw him in person.
In her account, she described pretending to be a DoorDash driver and sending a text exchange that ended with Urker thanking her for the food, including a Hershey pie. She said, “I will carry that one with me forever.”
Late September exchange
Blanchard said, “During one of our exchanges, I decided to surprise him with Burger King,” and added, “I pretended to be a DoorDash driver and left his food outside his door.” She said Urker replied, “Omg ur so crazy lol,” and, “You even got me a Hershey pie.”
She also said, “It was such a simple, silly little moment, but one that now means more to me than I could ever put into words,” and, “Sometimes it’s the smallest moments that become the most precious memories.” The exchange now stands as the last in-person memory she says she has of him before his death on Oct. 1.
Oct. 1 in Louisiana
Urker was found dead in his Louisiana home on Oct. 1 by Dylan Blanchard. A police report obtained by E! News said he was found surrounded by drug paraphernalia, and the report said he died due to an “overdose.”
Authorities had not yet determined his official cause of death because toxicology testing was pending. Blanchard said on Oct. 2, “I don’t know if it was intentional or not,” and, “He was not in a good state of mind lately.”
Aurora and the next step
Blanchard and Urker shared a 21-month-old daughter, Aurora, making the final days before his death part of a family story that now turns on one unanswered point: what toxicology testing will show. That result will determine whether the death is treated as intentional or accidental, and it is the only piece that can settle the split between the police report’s overdose language and Blanchard’s own uncertainty.
Blanchard said she had known Urker was the one “probably the day I met him back in 2017,” and the two got engaged in 2018. She was serving a 10-year prison sentence at the time she met him, after pleading guilty in connection with the 2015 killing of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard.
