Adam Leeds says Ledn will launch Tether Gold loans in Kitco News

Ledn will launch Tether Gold-backed loans in the coming weeks, CEO Adam Leeds said in Kitco news. He framed the product as part of a push to give investors financing tied to gold without relying on local government risk.

Leeds said the company is partnering with Tether on XAUT loans. He described tokenized gold as a way to make the same claim on physical gold available globally, while Ledn tries to standardize rates and terms of service for investors wherever they are.

Adam Leeds on inflation

Leeds said inflation has become a daily concern since COVID, citing a shift in how average people talk about preserving wealth. He said, “Everyone, including those who are far from being sophisticated investors, is talking about inflation and how to combat it,” and tied that concern to interest in gold and Bitcoin.

He also pointed to his own background in energy infrastructure. “I used to be investing in energy infrastructure for most of my career,” Leeds said. “I spent about 12 years investing in primarily renewable power.”

Tether Gold and XAUT

Ledn’s launch centers on XAUT loans in partnership with Tether. Leeds said, “What we really like about tokenized gold – and specifically XAUT [loans] that we're launching in partnership with Tether – is for the first time it takes gold and converts it into something that's the same for everyone globally.”

He said Swiss vaults remain the global standard for gold, but argued the digital wrapper changes who can access it and on what terms. The company’s pitch is that tokenized gold can carry the same physical backing while moving through a lending product built for cross-border use.

Ledn's lending thesis

Leeds said the broader goal is to create investment opportunities that are not at the mercy of local government. He said, “The main thesis of what we tried to do with Ledn is standardize rates and terms of service regardless of where individual investors are in the world.”

For borrowers, that means the immediate change is not a trading product but a financing option built around gold exposure. The open question is how Ledn will structure those loans and what terms it will attach to them once the launch begins in the coming weeks.
