Wfsb says Connecticut should stay mostly dry and mild this week as a nor'easter strengthens offshore, with only a low chance of rain late Wednesday and Wednesday night in southeastern Connecticut. Most of the state keeps dry weather through the midweek stretch, while the southeast corner may pick up a brief period of rain.
Connecticut through Thursday
Temperatures in Connecticut will run cooler than last week, but still stay seasonably cool. Highs are expected in the lower to mid-60s through Thursday, which keeps the daytimes mild enough for late October but cooler than the recent pattern.
The weather service said the storm should remain offshore this week before moving farther out to sea. That keeps the main system away from Connecticut even as it organizes over the Atlantic and Northeast.
Friday and Saturday nights
Highs are expected to top out in the upper 50s on Friday and Saturday, then warm back into the lower 60s on Sunday. Overnight lows will mainly be in the 40s, though temperatures could dip near freezing at times, particularly Friday and Saturday nights.
For residents of southeastern Connecticut, the practical question is whether the offshore system reaches far enough west to matter. The forecast gives that area only a low chance of rain late Wednesday and Wednesday night, so the more likely outcome is a dry stretch for most of Connecticut with a narrow window for showers near the coast.
Midweek rain chance
The same system could send showers and thunderstorms to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast coasts through Wednesday, but the expected impact in Connecticut stays limited. The timing matters most for late Wednesday into Wednesday night, when the southeast part of the state has the only meaningful rain chance in the forecast.
That leaves most of Connecticut with dry travel and routine late October conditions through the end of the week, while southeastern Connecticut keeps a closer eye on the midweek window. The forecast answer is simple: the storm stays offshore, the rain risk stays low, and the cooler stretch lasts into the weekend.
