MLB has released the full World Series schedule, and the first two games are set for American Family Field in Milwaukee on Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24. If the Brewers reach the Fall Classic, it will mark the return of the World Series to Wisconsin for the first time in 44 years.
The last World Series game in Milwaukee before this scheduled return was played on October 17, 1982. Now, the city is lined up to host the opening two games, giving Milwaukee an immediate home-field spotlight if the Brewers are the club that advances.
What the schedule says
The World Series is built around a tight early stretch, with four games in four days before two days off. That setup means the series can move quickly at the start, while still leaving room later for travel and recovery if it goes the distance.
The Brewers won the National League Championship Series by sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers five days before this schedule was announced. Their opponent will be the winner of the Cleveland Guardians and Tampa Bay Rays series, and the timing of that American League Championship Series could matter. Last night, that series was delayed because of poor weather in the Cleveland area, which could compress the schedule for Milwaukee’s opponent before the World Series begins.
Possible return games in Milwaukee
If the World Series reaches Games 6 or 7, Milwaukee would also host those contests. Game 7 would be played on Saturday, October 31 if necessary. That gives the Brewers a chance not only to open the series at home, but potentially to close it there as well.
For now, the most important date is October 23. That is when the World Series schedule begins, and it sets the stage for a rare postseason return to American Family Field in Milwaukee.
