Prince Harry used his first major Prince Harry UK return interview to say he wants to make peace with King Charles and Prince William after returning to the U.K. with his family earlier in the summer. He said the relationship is complicated and fractured, but he wants it to work out.
“Some people don’t want it to work out. I want it to work out. With everything else that’s going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile — that’s the key point,” Harry said to GQ. He also said, “But, for me, there’s enough drama in the world and enough drama in people’s lives to continue with issues with family.”

The interview matters because Harry placed reconciliation at the center of his public remarks, not a side note. He said his relationship with his father and brother remains “complicated and fractured,” then added, “Scars stick around forever.”
Harry also argued for letting go of past conflict. “But what your perception is, and what your mindset is to those things that have happened, letting go of the past,” he said. He added that if people are still affected by things from the past every day, those issues are harder to release.
Earlier in the summer
Harry returned to the U.K. with Meghan Markle and their two children after six years in California. That timeline places the interview after the move back, making it his first major public comment on the family rift since the return.
He said his attitude toward England changed after years of dealing with the press and several legal battles, and he said talking about those experiences can raise awareness and make the environment slightly easier. He also said the behavior of the press might change, though he did not say it would stop.

Harry said there are aspects of the past that he, his family and some of the British press would like to leave behind and work for the greater good. He also said he had been criticized for telling his story, adding, “I find it fascinating because everybody else is allowed to tell their version of my story, but God forbid I should be able to tell the other side of it.”
The public record from this interview stops at desire, not action: Harry did not announce a meeting, apology or formal step toward reconciliation. For now, the next development depends on whether he, King Charles or Prince William turns that stated intent into contact.
